Aktivera offers comprehensive Radiation Protection Monitor (RPM) training designed for personnel working in industries where exposure to ionising radiation or Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) may occur. The course provides delegates with a solid understanding of radiation fundamentals, biological effects of radiation, radiation hazards, monitoring techniques, contamination control, emergency response, and the legal responsibilities associated with radiation protection.
The programme combines theoretical knowledge with practical, hands-on training in the use of radiation monitoring instruments, enabling delegates to confidently perform radiation monitoring activities in accordance with regulatory requirements and recognised industry standards.
Our RPM training is suitable for employees in the mining, mineral processing, industrial minerals, scrap metal, manufacturing, transport, and waste management sectors. Training can be presented at our training venue or customised and delivered at client sites anywhere in South Africa.
Upon successful completion, delegates will have the knowledge and practical skills required to monitor workplace radiation levels, respond appropriately to abnormal conditions, and contribute to maintaining a safe and compliant working environment.

Aktivera provides SETA and SAIOSH accredited radiation protection training for professionals within the mining and nuclear sectors. The current training portfolio includes Radiation Protection Monitor training, with further course development planned to support the evolving compliance and competency requirements of industry.
Courses are developed with reference to South African regulatory requirements, including the framework administered by the National Nuclear Regulator. The National Nuclear Regulator exercises regulatory control over facilities and activities involving NORM, including through authorisations such as Certificates of Registration and Certificates of Exemption.
Aktivera’s facilitators collectively offer more than 25 years of practical experience in NORM mining and processing, project development, mining right application processes, Certificate of Registration application processes, and operational monitoring environments.
This experience includes mining development, processing, monitoring, and the application of a broad range of radiation detection and monitoring equipment. Learners benefit from practical insight that links regulatory obligations with operational implementation.
